MASTER PLUMBER
Jay Eckstorm
Master Plumber Jay Eckstorm trained at Baltimore County Community College and with the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association. He has nearly 40,000 hours of on-the-job experience. His work history includes such high-profile clients as the University of Maryland and Andrews Air Force Base. A brief stint in the insurance industry gave him additional skills in marketing and administration that make him a well-rounded professional. His favorite part of the job is seeing his client's satisfaction with a job well done.
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems
- Install, test and repair all sizes of backflow prevention devices
- Coordinate, troubleshoot, repair, inspect and maintain plumbing equipment including but not limited to, faucets, lavatories, water closets, flush valves, sinks, water heaters, drinking fountains, domestic water heaters, garbage disposals, backflow devices, valves and water meters
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to domestic water systems and related devices and sanitary waste drainage
- Repair or replace water lines, domestic recirculation lines and sewer lines
- Respond to emergency plumbing calls such as clogged drains, broken water lines, frozen pipes, gas odors and possible gas leaks. Evaluation situation and take proper corrective action
- Provide labor and material estimates related to plumbing for projects; Coordinate inspections for contractor performed work in renovations and new construction projects
- Maintain and repair all-natural gas services including valves
- Recommend repair needs to potentially eliminate ongoing and future repairs
- Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
- Apply all codes to installations and ensure all installations are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes required
- Journeyman/Gas Fitter certification from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution
- Ability to work on residential and commercial properties to assess the work needing to be completed
- Capability to install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
